beginner pattern that makes no sense

Categorized As:

I have a pattern for what is called a cozy coat the directions for the row are as follows 3hdc, *1FP dc, 1hdc, 1BP dc, 1 Cable(see Special Abbreviation), 1BP dc,1hdc, rep from * 6 times, 1FP dc,4 hdc, 2ch, turn.

Special Abbreviation: Cable (worked over 4 sts)
Work a dc until there are two loops on the hook, miss 1 st, work 1RtrF until there are three loops on the hook, yo and draw through all three loops. Work 1RtrF in the next st, 1RtrF where the 'unfinished' dc was placed, 1 'unfinished' RtrF in st missed (2 loops on hook), 1 unfinished dc in top of last st of 4st gr (3 loops on hook) yo, draw through all three loops.

I'm not an expert crocheter but I'm not a beginner either and this book Beginner's Guide to Crochet by Pauline Turner has me mystified. The only thing it says about this RtrF is that it is worked the same way as a FP dc with one more wrap of the yarn is there any one that can make sense of this and help me out PLEEEEEEEEEEESE

I'll try. This cable is very confusing, you are right. It seems that RtrF means "Raised Triple Front". You are working 1/2 DC, then working two RtrF to the left, then going back and doing two partial RtrF to the right and bringing it all together with the unfinished dc and drawing through all loops. Does this make sense?? I hope so. Good Luck!
