amigurumi eyes

Categorized As:

Anyone who can tell me where to get generic amigurumi eyes in a fairly large amount (i.e. more than one pair) will get a big cyberkiss! I can't find them at Michael's, JoAnn's, or any LYS. I found some on Etsy, but they are handpainted and $$$$ (they're beautiful, but I'm just looking for the plain black ones).

Any suggestions, online or otherwise?

Thank you!

I find them at Hobby Lobby in the bear making department or the doll making department.

Thanks! No Hobby Lobby in Cali -- but the accompanying website has them! Thank you very much!

I had the same problem when I was looking, you almost have to call each store, and talk to someone who really knew the merchendise. I finally found them at my local Ben Franklin's (although according to the online store, they didn't have them) but another place that has a good selection is CR Craft :

Good luck!

I went to a craft store looking for bear supplies and the sales clerk told me that "people weren't really in to making bears right now".

I couldn't believe she said that. I was shocked. Speechless. Totally blew my mind. That's why I like Hobby Lobby. That and my husband seems to be able to find anything on the internet.

i don't know if this will help, but you can use large chunky beads for eyes and noses. i did that on a bear...

and on a technicolor dragon...

obviously this wouldn't work as well if you're making the amigurumi for small children (and even then i'd be more likely to embroider eyes than use anything plastic), but it would be good for older kids, or if you're just making the figures for your own pleasure. that's what i've been doing *guilty smile*

You know that I have resorted to doing just that--using beads for eyes. And string jointing rather than wait on being able to buy the plastic lock on joints and eyes.

Cheaper for me and I like the way it works just fine. I have resorted to embroidery for facial features if I know a child or a pet will have contact with it. Less lawsuits and I sleep easier.

Otherwise I advertise it as "Not a toy" and cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I wanted to say how adorable your bear and dragon(?) was. The last time I posted a compliment on this forum my comment disapeared.

I'm having one of those days.

aww... thank you :). and yes, he's a dragon. i named him "patchouli". naming him "puff" seemed too obvious ;).

Well you got a nice chuckle out of me with that one!

I like the way you think.
