So I am somewhat self-taught, and working currently on making myself a shirt, using an existing store-bought one as a template. Thankfully it looks like it's mostly end of the row decreases with minimal shaping, so it should be a good starter. If it looks good, who knows, I may share my pattern! By mostly self-taught, I was instructed by first my grandmother in chain stitch, then one of my best friends in single and double crochet and working in standard rows. So rounds, increasing, and pattern stitches, etc, I've just figured out by reading patterns and frogging. A lot.
