I first started crocheting when I was about four or five. My grandmother came to visit my family while we were living in Washington, D.C. She was making the most beautiful placemats in a shell stitch. She taught me to crochet the chain stitch. Many years later I was able to pick up a hook, and thread to make baby clothes for my children, sweaters for myself, lots of other things. I have since learned to knit and love both of these fiber arts.
