Vogue Fall 2006 Trend Reports

Here.

I can't say I like the oversized bit, but I'm intrigued by the Napoleonic, layering, and bubble (if it avoids the ridiculous) styles. Fur should go out again; it went out for a reason. And if it sparks more interest in faux fur yarns, I'll scream. Trends be damned, it's time for stitch definition, trad yarns, sophisticated shaping and sizing.

"It's time for stitch definition, trad yarns, sophisticated shaping and sizing." My thoughts exactly.

And metallics are in! I bought a late 60s gold skirt at a thrift store ages ago because it was just too crazy and cheap to pass up and now, maybe with a little alteration -- it's a bit too long for my taste -- it's time to start wearing it. I also have a vintage green and silver dress and Mandarin-collar jacket (from the same era) that I ought to start wearing again.

And as much as I actually don't mind fun-furs and novelty yarns as trim and for small accessories, I do much prefer plain old-school monochrome simple yarns..

Can someone please explain to me why fur is making a comeback? It turns my stomach to think about it.
