Unplugging for the Weekend

Categorized As:

I'm unplugging for the weekend! It doesn't happen often, and I'm looking forward to it (with, you know, that kind of gnawing trepidation that precedes such things).

To honour the event, a question for you. Leave a comment with the following info: What's the last project you completed? What are you working on now? What's up next?

The last project I completed is for something I'll blog about when the spring issue of the magazine comes out in a couple of weeks:

Shhh. It's a secret

In an attempt for instant gratification, I'm currently knitting a superchunky wee sweater from the Anthropologie-inspired Capelet pattern (though it's not a capelet). I love this colour! I'm thinking I might finish it during this unplugged weekend...

Anthropologie-inspired Capelet (but it's not a capelet)

And next. Mmm. Next. Likely something crocheted. But what? It would figure that I'd ask a question I can't yet answer myself. Hmph.

So. What're you working on?

I just finished some Skully Potholders from SNB Happy Hooker.
I am currently working on knitting a pair of socks and a Babette Blanket (the never ending Babette).
Coming up next is a Pucker Purse (available on Yarn Things Purse Workshop website).

Just finished moments ago, a knitted ballband dishcloth. Currently working on the Icelandic Turtleneck from Crochet Me. Up next, the knitted companion cube a-la the video game Portal for my SO.

the last project i completed was a pair of crocheted socks in really cool self striping sock yarn.

i'm currently working on a second pair of socks for a friend, as well as a gorgeous jumper that's crocheted but reminds me of a cable knit sweater.

Last crocheted project I completed was the felted messenger bag from the book. Though, technically that is not actually finished (though it is felted). Last knitting project was the first of a pair of socks. :)

Last completed - mohair fingerless mitts from a pattern on this site. I've received compliments on them, too!

Current WIP - too many! Sweaters, shawls, sox, but the one I was working on last night and will probably work on today is a knitted bag bag for storing plastic bags.

Next - I'd like to make a CROCHETED bag bag in a pretty lace pattern, maybe this Gilded Fans pattern. Or work on one of the other WIP's? I've also had my eye on the not-a-capelet capelet.

I just finished the 'Sizzling Bolero' from The Big Book of Weekend Crochet. It took me forever but I had some great help from the ladies at my local yarn shop. And it is done-- but not yet blocked.

I'm currently working on the crocheted, felted tote bag in the Vogue Knitting Series book Crocheted Bags. This was a very easy project and I made a few for Christmas gifts. This one is all for me, though. :)

Happy crocheting!

My latest finished product...hmmm...I think it was a hat that I crocheted as a prototype for my hat pattern.

The current project is a cardi-wrap from Crochet Today's current issue. I'm making it for a lady at our local computer store. It's my first time working for a client!

Happy Hooking! I'm super excited to see the spring IC!!

Last finished project: my ball gown (sewing) for our Spring Ball last weekend.
WIP: Chemo cap for Knots-of-Love, Berries and Branches Afghan from an on-line Jo-Ann's pattern, and a striped cardigan for my dad (all crocheting projects)
Next up: In crochet, I really want to try either the Flowers for Eryn Shawl or Infinity Wrap from Winter IC. I will also be starting another sewing project in the form of the backpacks for Olive and Archie from Wee Wonderfuls.

Last COMPLETED? the Web Shawl by Petavy from winter 2007 Interweave Crochet, for my sister-in-law. Finishing Easy Throw from free pattern on this site (can't remember designer); next up the baby blanket (with the hole for the car seat latch) and cap from Happy Hooker. Hoping this spring to make Petavy's leaf sweater from Crochet Me book...

Just finished the Icelandic turtle neck - and I love it. pitch black, just like all my stuff ;)

I'm currently working on the baby doll-inspired dress (crochet me book) - and yes, it's also black.

Cheers!

Just finished One Skein Scarf from SNB Happy Hooker in gorgeous cranberry Tahki Merino wool for MIL. Did it entirely on my bus commute (30 mins each way), about a week and a half. Also last week finished a V-ery Easy V scarf (see fuzzygalore.biz--one of my favorite quick patterns) in an interesting Muench novelty yarn I got on sale, for a friend of hubby. She's taking it to wear in Paris!

Currently working on Seija blanket and hat from SNB Happy Hooker for my friend who's expecting a baby boy. Project is Lion Brand WoolEase in Choc Brown, Turquoise, and White. I'm 2/3 finished with the blanket, and should finish the whole thing this weekend since I'm off 4 days. Work on it during bus ride & while watching movies. By the way, people seem to think it's weird to crochet on the bus--they tend to avoid sitting next to me and avoid looking at me or my project. Odd.

Also have WIP Boteh scarf, in Tequila SWTC Bamboo yarn (similar to the one you made, Kim, I think). 2/3 done with that, but I haven't worked on it in a few weeks (see above!). I love that pattern--very fun to work on and a lot easier than it appears.

Also have sewing WIPs of some aprons: BBQ for friend's husband, matching one for toddler boy--both in ticking stripe, plus "oilcloth" toddler apron. Also 2 vintage-inspired aprons for my friend. One finished, one 90% done. Must finish this weekend--overdue project!

Makes me sound a lot more productive than I actually am! I recently resumed actual crochet, instead of just thinking and reading about crochet.

I am a new member and this is my first post, I found out about your website through the yarnthing podcast of which i listen to regularly. Last week i finished a quick dishtowel of which i always have one going in a corner of my pocketbook so i can scoot through it as i wait in line here or there. I am almost finished with my first felting project, a clutch purse made with "felting" yarn. Will probably hot water wash it this weekend. Am nervous but since it was only 3 balls of yarn i won't have a hairy fit if i mess it up.
Thanks for having a place where this crocheter in a land of knitters can go!

goal: to one day be good enough to crochet socks.
