Uncommon Threads Air Dates

Categorized As:

A year after we went to Burbank, CA to tape, Uncommon Threads is finally premiering in early July on the DIY Network (click the link for details). Though the specific Crochet me episode air times aren't listed yet, they've put up summaries of the lamely-titled Contemporary Crochet Home Decor episode (featuring Marlo, Julie, and Tiffany), and the It's My Party episode (featuring me, Cecily, and Donna). There are three more episodes, too, so check back at your leisure.

[Thanks, Chelle!]

A disclaimer: I'm fairly certain I did not successfully demonstrate any of the techniques I was supposed to show. The camera made me feel like an alien freak, and I do assure you that I know how to crochet, and that, in fact, I do it successfully all the time. Really. But I'm going to stick with writing about it from now on. (From then on, really; you'll notice I haven't been on TV since.)

A year-and-a-half after the story first started circulating, the crocheted hyperbolic space model is still making headlines. This article, though, includes a really cool video of the mathematicians and the models. I highly recommend a look-see.

Those things are cool. We have a new prof joining my grad program (library science) in the fall. She crochets, and when she was interviewed by my boss for a little writeup in our faculty facebook, she said her current project was the hyperbolic plane stuff. I immediately signed up for both of her classes based on that information. Well, not solely on that information, but close enough. :)

After all the waiting, I am PAINFULLY unprepared!!!!! My group, Crochet Nation, filmed five episodes...looks like only two are scheduled to air...can't see or record our first one that is airing RIGHT NOW...do you know of anyone who is recording the shows?

Hi Gwendolyn - I don't know of anyone. I don't get the DIY Network, so I'll also be counting on friends who do to hook me up. I hope you find a copy!

Gwendolyn,
I was able to catch the show with you and your crochet group Crochet Nation which appeared on DIY's Uncommon Threads. I really enjoyed the show and the hip and trendy hats you all designed. Now I'm starting on the patterns off the web site for X-mas gifts for everyone! THANK YOU so much for showing how to carrie and change out the thread colors I am a self taught crocheter as my mom is left handed and I am not. Changing the thread colors that way makes the project look so much nicer and I never got that concept from the learn to crochet books.I actually crocheted a verly large aphgan using the single crochet block letter technique a few months before the show and I tied in the thread and had to finish them all off it was a real pain. I can't wait to see the other airings with your crochet group now that I have seen your designs! Oh and I wouldn't fret about not being able to record the show DIY reruns their shows quite a bit and you will surely catch it yourself just check the website they often will list when that airing will show again. Thanks for inspiring me and my teenage daughter to learn to hook with me!

I was finally able to catch an episode of the long-awaited Uncommon Threads yesterday while I was taking a sick day from work. On the East Coast, the show is broadcasted on Mondays & Wednesday at 10:30am. (Oh, how I wish I had a DVD recorder or Tivo!) Anyway, the episode I caught was "Form Felt Into Fashion" and it was pretty interesting. (That needle felting is pretty crazy! I'd probably end up stabbing myself WAY too much.)

"Contemporary Crochet Home Decor" is scheduled for August 8th; "Crochet Class" is on August 16th; "It's My Party" and "Freeform Crochet" are listed but don't have specific dates. Out of the 37 episodes listed, I'm sure some of them feature other crochet projects, but the show titles are much more cute than they are informative. One day when I have some time, I'll click on each of them to get the details of what will be covered.

I can't wait to see the CrochetMe gang in action!

Hi Gang! Saw you on Uncommon Threads featuring your Shrug, Shrap and Shroat. At the end of the show, Allison showed us a tank top that Gwendolyn was inspired to make after shopping. Where can we get a copy of the pattern for this tank top? I absolutely LOVED it! Can anyone help me? I love watching all of the Crochet Nation Citizens on Uncommon Threads. You all are absolutely delightful. Thanks for all of your inspiration. Betsy
