Dinnertime Link Dump

When I started writing this it was lunchtime. It's been one of those days. (Anyone else in the PNW feel like now they know what it must be like to live in the Arctic during the winter? All day it's felt like night.)

I've had some of these pages open in Firefox for a couple of days. Time to share:

  • Medusa nematocystaScallop Tea Cosy - I'm not usually a fan of these, but this one's gorgeous. [I can't remember where I found this...]

Ok, here's something that you don't see everyday. I was watching College Gameday on ESPN this morning - and they did a short piece on Ian Johnson, running back for Boise State. He's leading the NCAA in touchdowns, is a Heisman Trophy hopeful and....wait for it....he crochets!

That's right, they showed him crocheting caps - he's very fast, I might add. He makes caps and scarves in Boise State colors and has 150 items currently on back order. His mom taught him to crochet as a kid. He said that his teammates mocked him when they first found out - and called him "crochet boy" and said, "why don't you knit yourself a friend?" But now they're all asking for caps and scarves - for themselves and their families!

Hmm. I am also strangely drawn to the plaid blankie. Is it the weather, or does it really have redeeming features? I'll make one if you make one...or better. I'll make you one if you make me one. That way we never have to fess up to having made one, we can just say, "oh this thing? It was a gift from some weird Internet lady."

I think the scalloped tea cozy was on Crochet Pattern Central a couple months ago.

Love Crochet Me and look forward with eager anticipation to the next online mag.

One of my New Year resolutions ( I'm a Virgo and I used to be a Girl Guide (UK)- Motto: 'Be Prepared' 'nuff said)is to try and design something worthy of being on Crochet Me. The competition is stiff, I know this; but, I can dream, can't I?
This is my resolution for 2007... doesn't mean I will actually DESIGN something in 2007... just means I will be thinking about it quite alot! :-))

I actually made the plaid blanket shrug (free pattern at berroco.com) with a pastel pink Pendleton blanket, with heather pink berroco encore yarn collar and cuffs. Turned out really pretty; problem with the photo on the pattern is the dark colors they chose.
