I've been loving this blog for a few months now. I am working on an afghan right now and am looking into the various options for joining blocks. I have a vague recollection of seeing that there was a way to crochet blocks together in such a way as to add a few inches of new crochet between the blocks. It may have been a series of chains...

Does this ring a bell? My crochet book doesn't say anything about it. Basically I'm looking for a way to use crochet to join blocks, but in such a way as to add at least 2-3" of extra crochet.....as opposed to joining the blocks directly to each other.
