Welcome to the Crochet Me's first ever Crochet Along!
The madness starts Wednesday, September 27th.
In the mean-time--choose your yarn, get the button, spread the word--it's going to be sweet!
We can't wait to see what you are going to do with the Sweet sweater, and we'll talk about it all here.
To sign up, add this image to your blog (in the sidebar, if you can, and with a link back to this page), if you've got one:
Then, send me an e-mail at amy@crochetme.com
along with a link to your blog. We'll have a list of participants here.
If you don't have a blog, just let me know you want to participate.
Once you've gotten started, you can talk about your progress on your blog, and in the comments of the posts here on the CAL. Let us know when you've got pictures so we can link to you!
Oh, and stay tuned--we'll be posting details shortly about the great
customizations Andi and Julie made to the sweater, like how to make
Andi's lace edging or get Julie's deeper v-neck.
Looking forward to crocheting-along with you!

Hi Amy, Have finally made it into the site. Am really looking forward to this Crochet along. All the best. Cheers. Robyn.
Woohoo. This is going to be great! Button is firmly in place on my blog. Now to figure out what yarn to use!
Regina
oohhh! ooh! I get first question. So, I've done my measurements, and made my starting chain. And it will not fit over my head in any way. It barely fits around my neck. I measured 6" for back of neck, and a guage of 3.5 stitches per inch, resulting in a starting chain of 41 stitches. Is this someting I've messed up, or do I need to go along and trust? (I've also tried switching to a larger hook size, and it didn't help either.)
Hi Rebecca--do you mean it won't fit around your head with 40 stiches? Because It's not supposed to. By the time you join at the V you should about 60 stitches around--an 18" neck hole, which should fit easily over your head. Make sense?
we learn by our mistakes don't we?? When I worked out my guage I had 3.25 when I did the maths I left out the .25 bad move. Once I got to joining the V part it was tiny. 1st lesson round up the numbers. So it has been ripped out once. Now Ive got to joining the v and have used a larger needle as well it goes quite nicely over my head but I would prefer a deeper V.
I have my first picture on by blog.
That's the thing, though, dawn...I rigged it with the .25, then I rounded up to 4 and it was still too small, then I added another inch to my measurement and it was STILL too small. I don't think I have an abnormally large head? Or, when measuring, do I need to measure the back of the neck where i want the sweater to fall, rather than the actual back of my neck with no ease?....I'm tempted to edit the directions to read "crochet a chain large enough to fit over your head and fiddle with the sleeve placement until it looks roughly like a raglan sleeve should."
What's the address for your blog?
Hi Rebecca, I linked to Dawn's blog in my most recent post.
