In another instance of sitting on my hands so I don't beat up the people who say that "crochet is hand-knitted" (WHAT?!), here's an article that gives a hint of where crochet is headed in the coming seasons.

As an added bonus, our beloved Donna's Crochet Blogs web ring is given a (kinda out of nowhere) plug at the end.

Hi!Thanks for that link. I was cheered because it is from my country, India. We do have a lot of crochet here, but it is usually done by traditional craftspeople who churn out amazing amounts of stuff, all without the benefit of written patterns. In fact in my home state of Andhra Pradesh, we have an entire region near Narsapur which has a lot of these crafters. They make everything from doilies, chair and table sets, to curtains and clothing. Much of it is in thread. They were taught by American missionaries, I believe. The prices they get for their products are however, nowhere near haute couture rates. This also means that someone like me cannot make any sort of living out of crocheting, not when such lovely creations are available at almost throwaway prices. So it remains, for me, a hobby which gets me stared at, but addictive nevertheless.Sorry for the ultra-long comment!!!
