straw poll
Ok, kids. I have been hearing from crocheters a LOT over the last few months (and more recently in response to yesterday's post), and a startling number have shared eerily similar stories about when they first learned how to crochet. If you have a second, please take this poll and let us know how old you were when you first learned how to crochet.
And while you're there, join the forum! Not to be bossy, or anything.

I was about 20, had just broken my ankle & leg. A college hippy-girl friend showed me how to single, double, etc, and we made bun-warmers (for hair, not cinnibuns) and purses. I lived in an upstairs apartment and couldn't get out much, so learning to crochet from yarn company pamphlets kept me sane. The year? 1971. I still don't hold the yarn "correctly" and don't do much beyond rectangles and circles. Though the yarn choices now simply boggle the mind. Crocheted clothing has always looked so "granny" to me. but now maybe things are a-changin! So happy to find this site! (knit knit knit everything's KNIT!)
